Herman wins under 12 English Golf Skills Challenge
Following his victory two weeks ago in the Under 14 Island Boys Championship, Herman Loubser went on to complete a notable double the following weekend when he became the winner of the 9 -11 age group in the English Golf Union's National Skills Challenge.
Several thousand young golfers entered this competition from across England competing initially at local level and through regional finals to the grand final at the National Golf Centre at Woodhall Spa in Lincolnshire. Herman won the Isle of Man leg of the competition at Port St Mary and so qualified for the Northern Regional Finals which were held on August 13th at Manchester Golf Club. Despite heavy rain showers, Herman beat the other 23 northern qualifiers to become the regional winner and so progress to the grand final. The EGU's Skills Challenge competition comprises 10 tests of chipping, putting, bunker play and full swings and Herman beat the other regional winners from the Midlands, Southeast and Southwest of England by 4 points largely due to holing one of his chip shots and a bunker shot to become champion.
At age 11 and with a handicap of 8, great things beckon in the world of golf for Herman.

Junior Captain
I would like to register my thanks to our 2010 Junior Captain, George Harris.
He has been a stalwart member of the club, regular in attendance and an exemplary role model for all our younger, upcoming juniors. His demeanour both on and off the course has been excellent, his manners, etiquette and appearance setting a fine example for all the juniors. George has also contributed meaningfully at Junior committee meetings and we are grateful for all the time he has given during his year in office.

Adam McAuley scored an excellent 38 points to win the Isle of Man Golf Union Under 14 Boys' Championship on Sunday 6th September 2009 in awful weather conditions. The rain was virtually continuous throughout the afternoon's play and the wind made playing conditions even more difficult. Nonetheless he only just pipped Danny Kane whose 37 points was again an excellent score on the day. Third on the day with 36 points was Daniel Corkill who won the best net in the 29 to 45 handicap category with second place in that category going to James E Kelly with 35 points and third to Joe Kane, brother of Danny. Herman Loubser freshly returned from a summer in South Africa was third in the 0 -28 handicap group.

Peel Golf Club Receives Prestigious Golf Mark Award
Posted: Jun 27, 2008
The award of Golf Mark to Peel Golf Club recognises the work of a considerable number of volunteer helpers, both parents and friends. The Golf Mark accreditation means that the English Golf Union and the English Women's Golf Association recognise Peel as one of a group of British Clubs that have in place a Junior system where children are introduced to Golf in a safe environment and are helped and encouraged to learn the game both technically and in the best spirit and traditions, whatever their race, sex or capabilities. The club has also received the Clubmark award from Sport England.
